At Mango Mela in Yadavindra Garden, Pinjore, CM Nayab Saini exhorts farmers to shift to organic farming

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the state government is providing training to farmers to urge them to do organic farming to help them increase their income. The CM was addressing a gathering during the 31st Mango Mela at Yadavindra Garden in Pinjore on Friday.
He said the Central Government had made separate budget provisions to increase the trend towards organic farming. He said, “The state government is also taking this objective forward. Therefore, through this fair, farmers will get an opportunity to adopt modern technology for organic farming, and the people of the state will get clean and pure food items.”
More than 300 varieties of mangoes were presented at the fair, including Dussehri, Chaunsa, Langra, Amarpali, Bombay Green (Malda), Ratol, Malika, Ambika, and Ramkela.
The Chief Minister visited every mango stall, participated in cultural programmes, and honoured the participants.
Tourism Minister Kanwar Pal said farmers from states including Haryana, UP, Punjab, and Himachal brought different varieties of mangoes.
Meanwhile, handlooms and handicrafts were also on display at Shilp Bazaar.
The gardens were illuminated with special lights used to save electricity. A multi-cuisine food court serving various dishes, including Indian street food, Punjabi flavours, South Indian, oriental, and Chinese food items, was also established.
Handlooms and handicrafts sold by artisans and weavers from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Rajasthan were also on display.
Students participated in competitions of rangoli, drawing, poster making, and mango quizzes.
The fair also featured cultural programmes by various artists.
