Mohali, April 12

An auto-rickshaw driver and his accomplice looted a Panchkula resident of Rs85,000 underneath the Zirakpur flyover today.

On a complaint of Phool Chand, a resident of Industrial Area, Phase 1, a case was registered under Sections 323, 341 and 382 of the IPC at the Zirakpur police station. The suspects were absconding, the police said.

The complainant stated that he was coming from the ISBT in Sector 17, Chandigarh, and had boarded an auto for Panchkula. A person, along with the driver, was already sitting in it. The auto driver took him to Baltana from the Vikas Nagar side and stopped the vehicle at a secluded place where the duo attacked him with a hockey stick and robbed him. —
