Auto hits cycle, woman injured

Chandigarh: A local resident has alleged that an auto hit her cycle near ACC godown, Daria village, on Sunday. Her mother, who was riding pillion, was injured and admitted to the GMCH-32. A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC has been registered at the Industrial Area police station. Balachaur resident Rohit Kumar reported that Mehul Khurana of Sector 35-A, who was driving a BMW, hit his car near the Kali Bari traffic lights on Sunday. A case under Section 279 of the IPC and 185 of the MV Act has been registered. TNS

Two fall prey to snatchers

Chandigarh: A woman resident has reported that a motorcyclist snatched her gold chain near the Vita booth in Sector 50 here on Sunday. A case under Sections 379-A and 34 of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 49 police station. Another resident reported that a motorcyclist snatched her purse containing a mobile phone in front of her residence on Saturday. TNS

Youth booked on cheating charge

Chandigarh: Principal of Government Model Senior School, Sector 46, reported that Rohit of Bhanwali, Panchkula district, who was appearing for the HSSC CET exam for Group D posts on Sunday, produced an admit card the photograph and signature on which didn’t match with NTA record. A case under Sections 419, 420 and 120-B, IPC, has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.

GMSSS, Sec 26, win volleyball c’ship

Chandigarh: Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, won the boys’ U-14 interschool volleyball tournament by defeating GMSSS, Kaimbwala. GMSSS, Sector 33, won the bronze medal by logging win over Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 30. In the boy’s U-19 final, DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, won the gold medal as they secured a win against GMSSS, Dhanas, 25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13. Jerath observer, Sonia referee

Chandigarh: The Boxing Federation of India nominated CK Jerath as observer and Sonia Kanwar as referee/judge for the upcoming 37th National Games to be held in Goa next month. Earlier, Jerath had acted as an observer in the Khelo India Youth Games in Panchkula and in the 2020 Khelo India University Games in Bhubaneswar. Sonia was a judge in the Women World Boxing Championship in New Delhi and Asian Championships in Mongolia and Dubai. TNS
