Avni, Rayaan win TT titles

Avni Gupta defeated Trishi in the girls’ U-11 final during the 2nd Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at the Sector 50 TT Hall.

Avni lost the first game 9-11, but equalised the next with a 11-9 verdict. The third game could have gone either way, but Trishi had the last laugh by registering a 10-12 win. In the next two games, Avni got her act together to log a 11-9 11-7 title win.

In semifinals, Trishi defeated Idhika Bansal 11-8 11-5 11-9 and Avni stunned Tisha 11-7 11-9 12-10. Before moving into the final-four, Trishi defeated Mihika Mahajan 11-8 9-11 11-5 12-10, Idhika defeated Irene Kochar 11-8 11-5 11-8, Avni ousted Priyanshi 13-11 11-9 13-11 and Tisha defeated Khushneet 11-4 11-3 11-2.

Rayaan won the boys’ U-11 gold medal by defeating Divit Bansal 11-6 5-11 11-9 11-7. In semis, Rayaan defeated Rudraksh 11-9 11-5 11-8 and Divit Bansal outplayed Nivaan Saini 11-2 8-11 11-7 11-7. In quarterfinals, Rayaan easily overpowered Kevyan 11-6 11-4 11-5, Divit beat Neemiksh 11-8 11-5 11-7.
