The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has urged Panjab University authorities to immediately award 867 gold medals to meritorious students who had achieved excellence in their respective courses from the academic session 2019-20 to 2023-24. The delay in awarding these honours has been attributed to administrative issues, including vendor unavailability on the GeM portal, the ABVP claimed.

Student leaders Parvinder Negi, Arpita Malik and Sartaj Dhaliwal, representing ABVP’s Punjab University unit, submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor. In the memorandum, they highlighted the need for swift action to recognise the hard work and achievements of the students. They stressed that continued inaction would lead to a mass protest organised by the ABVP if the issue remained unresolved.
