Mohali, December 14
The National Lok Adalat at Mohali district today passed an award of Rs 53.97 crore while disposing of as many as 1,230 cases here.
According to the authorities concerned, a total of 3,677 cases had been taken up before various Lok Adalat Benches constituted across the district.
“As many as 1,230 cases have been disposed of by virtue of compromise and an award of Rs 53,97,05009 was passed by the Lok Adalat Benches,” the authorities said while adding that matters related to criminal compoundable offences, NI Act under Section 138, bank recovery, MACT, matrimonial disputes, labour disputes, land acquisition, electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases), service matters relating to pay and allowances and retiral benefits, revenue, other civil cases (rent, easement rights, injunction suits, specific performance suits) were taken up before the Lok Adalat Benches.
Earlier, Justice Lalit Batra, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Administrative Judge, Sessions Division, Mohali inspected the National Lok Adalat proceedings here. A total of 10 Benches were constituted at the district headquarters. Besides, two benches at Sub-Division, Kharar, and three benches at Sub-Division, Dera Bassi, were also constituted.
