Chandigarh: Striker Club drubbed Chandigarh Coaching Club 10-0 to move into the boys’ semifinals on the opening day of the 37th Junior State Softball Championship here on Saturday. City Hawks beat St Anne’s Club 1-0, while Chandigarh Mission Club registered an 11-1 win over Sector 15 Club. Leisure Club overcame DAV Club 5-4. In the girls’ quarterfinals, Striker Club beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, 1-0. Session on life of journalist

Chandigarh: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, GGDSD College, organised an online session on “Managing News and Life of a Journalist: Challenges and Opportunities” here on Saturday. Senior journalist Sayeed Ansari was the chief guest. While interacting with the students, Ansari said: “It is important to learn skills essential to the media industry. One must develop interest in reading and enhance one’s general knowledge, learn at least two languages and be able to master new technology.” About 100 students participated in the session. TNS
