National security is not just the concern of people in armed forces, everyone needs to be a citizen warrior.
This was stated by Lt Gen KJ Singh (retd) during a discussion on his book ‘General’s Jottings: National Security, Conflicts, and Strategies’ at Panjab University. The Centre for Police Administration at the university, in association with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Gyan Setu Think Tank, hosted the event.
Lt Gen Singh, the keynote speaker, provided valuable insights into contemporary national security challenges. Encouraging the youth, he said, “We can be soldiers in our own disciplines. We can be a health warrior or a cyber warrior or be skilled in any discipline and contribute to the country’s growth.”
He emphasised the need for a proactive approach to national security, highlighting the evolving nature of modern warfare. “We should remain prepared to fight in domains like cyberspace and autonomous weapon,” he said.
Conflicts today were not just about borders, they extended to the digital and information domains. India must stay ahead through strategic foresight and technological preparedness, he said.
On his book, Lt Gen Singh said, “After ‘re-attiring’ from service, I wanted to unlock my stories from military experience of over 40 years.” He said he wanted to write a book which helped a lay reader, a common citizen, a student or an aspirant to make better sense of national security.
