Chandigarh faced a 98-run defeat against Bengal in the last league match of the Women’s Seniors One Day Tournament, at Lahli (Rohtak).

Batting first, Bengal, once struggling at 89/5, recorded a 78-run partnership between Prativa and Bala. Pravita scored 42, while Bala remained unbeaten at 50. Bengal scored 199/7 in the stipulated 50 overs. Aaradhana Bisht (3/27) was the most successful bowler, while Kumari Shibi and Nandini Sharma shared two wickets each.

In reply, Chandigarh were off to a disappointing start when Saika Ishaq dismissed Deepti Walia (4) and Gulnaz (0). Later, Chandrima sent back Nikita (2) and Shivangi (1) to trouble Chandigarh eves at 15/4. As Aradhana Bisht (13) was bowled by Sushmita Ganguly— half of Chandigarh’s team was back to the pavilion at 39.

Pravita (3/14) then almost sealed the match by dismissing top scorer and skipper Kashvee Gautam (22) and Ramiza Begum (0) in the same spell. The lower order batters failed to stable the innings as Chandigarh were all out at 101 in the 47th over.
