Beopar Mandal opposes vendors in front of shops
A protest letter has been sent to the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner
The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal has opposed the Municipal Corporation’s recent decision to allow vendors from outside to set up stalls in front of shops in the city markets during festivals. Sanjeev Chadha, president of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, said the decision was most unfortunate and anti-commerce, which must be withdrawn.
He added that the traders body believes that the move will harm the interests of permanent GST dealers with expensive commercial establishments. It will lead to unfair competition, revenue loss for law-abiding shopkeepers and potentially harm local economy. It may also lead to corruption and exploitation of loopholes in the system, he added.
