Chandigarh Beopar Mandal takes up grain market issues with Agriculture Secretary
A delegation of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal today met Hari Kallikat, Secretary of the Agriculture Department, Chandigarh, and took up the pressing issues of sanitation and encroachments in the Sector 26 Grain Market.
Beopar Mandal president Sanjeev Chadda said the delegation highlighted the challenges posed by unauthorised vendors and inadequate sanitation facilities, which had been adversely affecting both traders and customers. They emphasised the need for immediate and coordinated action to restore order and hygiene in the market area.
Chadha said Kallikat assured the delegation that he would convene a joint meeting with the Chief Secretary, involving all departments concerned, including the Municipal Corporation, Police, Estate Office and Engineering Department, to formulate and implement effective measures addressing the issues of illegal vending and sanitation in the market.
The delegation also requested the installation of physical barricades to separate the Grain Market and vegetable market. The measure aims to prevent overlap between the two markets, thereby addressing issues of encroachment and sanitation simultaneously.
