Bike-borne men attack shop owner

Five unidentified bike-borne youths today barged into a shop dealing in construction material at Palheri village in the district and attacked owner Jaswinder Singh with sharp-edged weapons.

Jaswinder, a resident of Shohali village, received injuries on shoulders, legs and arms. He was admitted to Kharar subdivisional hospital.

The victim stated that he was in his shop 12 noon, when four to five youths, who were riding two bikes without registration plates, came to him. One of them stood on a chair and started arguing, while another sprayed pepper spray in his eyes and started hitting him with swords and sticks.

Jaswinder claimed that the youths were in a religious attire. “They had come to the shop four days ago seeking material for construction,” he said. The police are investigating the matter.
