Mohali, May 17

A motorcyclist died after being hit by a car near Quark City light point on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Durali native Harbans Singh.

The victim was rushed to Sohana hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

The car driver, coming from Kharar side, fled the spot after the incident but police traced the vehicle with the help of CCTV footage from the area.

The suspect has been identified as Bassi Pathana resident Simran Singh.

On the complaint of deceased’s son-in-law Amanpreet Singh, a case under Section 304A, 279 and 427 of the IPC has been registered at the Sohana police station.

In another accident, a cyclist died after being hit by an unknown vehicle near Chappar Chiri on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Mohali resident Harpreet Singh, who used to work in a factory in Chappar Chiri.

He was returning home when an unknown vehicle hit him near a marble shop.

Harpreet was rushed to Kharar hospital by passersby where doctors declared him dead.

A case under Sections 304A, 279 and 427 of the IPC has been registered at the Balongi police station, said the police.
