A new flight between Hisar and Chandigarh became operational from here today. The twice-a-week flight — which is a 72-seater aircraft — will operate on Mondays and Fridays. The flight departs from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh for Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar at 3:30 pm. The Hisar airport, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, became fully operational on April 14.
In another development, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal held a meeting with the airport authorities and related departments such as GMADA, Municipal Corporation and Rural Development and Panchayats at the District Administrative Complex to make the airfield around Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport bird-free.
Komal Mittal asked the departments to take immediate steps related to bird control so as to ensure safe landing and take-off of flights from the airport.
Airport officials had brought to the notice of the district administration that raw meat and other waste readily available at meat shops were the major reasons behind the influx of birds in the area. Similarly, the officials concerned were asked to pay immediate attention to shifting garbage heaps around Kambala, Jagatpur and Sector 74. They directed the drainage department to complete the cleaning of drains at Kambala and Jagatpur at the earliest.
