A joint industry forum delegation met UT Adviser Rajeev Verma today to discuss key issues concerning the sector. The meeting was also attended by Industry Secretary Hargunjit Kaur.

The delegation raised several issues, including matters related to misuse and violation notices to industrialists. The forum, led by Chander Verma, stated that there was a sense of insecurity among the industrial houses of Chandigarh after notices by the SDM that properties would be sealed if violations were not removed. They emphasised that such notices should be withdrawn immediately and internal changes within the building area should be treated as need-based changes.

Verma stated that other issues which were discussed included increase in FAR, conversion of properties from leasehold to freehold as the Administration didn’t come up with the transfer policy after completion of 15 years from the date of allotments.

“The industry is paying huge revenue to the Administration, but not enjoying any facilities to facilitate the business,” he said.

Verma also said: “There is no ease of doing business in the city and the industry is suffering a lot due to notices and were shifting to neighbouring states, causing huge loss of revenue to the government exchequer.”

They urged the Adviser for immediate action to stop sending sealing notices and create a better atmosphere for industrialists, so that they can run their business smoothly and contribute in the development of the city.

The Adviser listened to all their issues and ensured that these issues would be taken care of and resolved shortly.
