Panchkula, February 5

Kumari Selja, All India Congress Committee general secretary, launched a strong attack on the Central Government, stated that it wants to end reservations for people belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes.

Selja said that the Manohar Khattar-led Haryana Government has increased the prices of cooking gas, tea and edible oils, among other necessities, putting a strain on the general public. She also criticised the Haryana Government for imposing taxes on farming equipment and pesticides, terming its policies anti-farmer.

She also talked about the farmer protests against the three agricultural laws and criticised the government for not implementing decisions over the demands that had been conceded over two years ago. She also spoke about the ‘mismanagement’ in the Crop Insurance Scheme under which, despite having insurance, farmers have not received compensation.

Selja said people have seen through the BJP’s rhetoric, adding that a change is inevitable.

Kalka MLA Pradeep Chaudhary expressed concerns about inflation and accused the Central and state governments of being insensitive to the plight of the common man. He criticised the Central Government for its ‘inability’ to address unemployment in the country and its ‘soft corner’ for industrialists.

Rajya Sabha member Randeep Surjewala said that his fight is not for a change in power but for a change in the system.
