BJP slams AAP for not clearing building plans in Nayagaon MC
Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch chairman and senior BJP leader Vineet Joshi said the AAP government had arbitrarily stopped passing building plans in Nayagaon, Karoran and Nada villages of Mohali.
This move has badly hit poor and lower middle income group, who own three or four marlas of land in Nayagaon civic body.
“If 10 km eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) is the reason for not approving building plans in Nayagaon, then why are similar plans being approved in New Chandigarh,” he asked.
In New Chandigarh, the area falling under the same single stretch of 10 km, there are no such restrictions and construction work is going on in full-swing, he claimed.
Joshi said the only reason is that influential people own plots in New Chandigarh. This area includes high-rise buildings and housing societies of IPS officers, IAS, PCS Society, Eco City I-II, MLA flats and other adjoining areas. Even private schools and Mullapur International Cricket Stadium are in violation of the order, said Joshi.
On December 24, the Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch demanded that the Punjab Government, especially the officers of the local body or the EO of Nayagaon Municipal Council, should start passing the building plans under their jurisdiction.
