Candidate of the BJP Krishan Lal Lamba has been elected the president of the the Municipal Council, Kalka, by defeating his nearest rival Pawan Kumar Sharma by a margin of 6,481 votes.

Lamba got 20,829 votes while Sharma, an Independent candidate supported by the local MLA, Pradeep Chaudhary, polled 14,348 votes. Lamba got the lead in the very first round and maintained it till the last 14th round. Ghanshyam Tagra of AAP polled 7,895 votes.

The counting of votes started at 8 am at Aruna Asaf Ali Government College under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mahavir Kaushik and general observer Geeta Bharti.

The BJP won 18 wards out of a total of 31 wards where the elections were held. The process of counting of votes was completed in 15 rounds. Thirteen women, including BJP candidates and Independents, emerged victorious.

Independents (Mostly supported by the Congress): Baninder Kaur, Mayank Lamba, Darshan Singh, Ashwani Kuma, Seema, Seema Devi, Geeta Devi, Kulwinder Kaur, Sunil Kumar, Ravi Chaudhary, Kapil Ghai, Krishan Lal and Ujala Bakshi
