Passengers of the Hyderabad-Chandigarh flight had to spend three hours at the airport after a bomb hoax call at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport here this afternoon. The crew of two flights departing from Hyderabad to Delhi and Chandigarh declared a general emergency onboard after getting bomb threats in the morning.

“Both flights were isolated upon landing and all passengers were safely disembarked,” said airline officials.

The Chandigarh-bound IndiGo flight 6E 108 departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 10:37 am and touched down here at 12:46 pm. On being informed that there was a bomb on the Chandigarh-bound flight, a bomb disposal squad, Central Industrial Security Force, the Mohali police and a dog squad carried out a joint search operation. Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek led the search operations at the airport.

Following the protocol, fire engines, ambulances and other emergency services were kept ready. After the search operations were over, the flight carrying passengers departed from the airport.

More than a dozen bomb hoax calls on domestic and international flights have delayed flight schedules in the past two weeks in the country.
