Chandigarh, April 19

In a boost to the city BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, representatives of 40 sports organisations have announced their support to Sanjay Tandon, the party candidate.

The announcement was made during a programme with sports personalities at the party office, Kamalam, in Sector 33 here. On the occasion, city BJP president Jitender Pal Malhotra asked young men and women associated with the sports world, sports trainers, etc, about the problems and needs of their area.

Representatives of sports organisations assured Malhotra that they would support the BJP candidate “because during the 10 years of his tenure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his sports policy, encouraged international level players and sports”.

Malhotra said the 10-year term of the Prime Minister was the golden era of sports. His dream was to make his nation a sporting power and also to add a new chapter in the form of social empowerment through sports. The city BJP chief said it was Modi’s vision that he planned to teach sports as a subject in the National Education Policy.
