Bribery case: Court rejects CHB official's bail application

Chandigarh, July 20

Jagjit Singh, Special Judge, CBI Court, has dismissed the bail application of Shamsher Singh, senior assistant of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB).

The CHB official was arrested by the CBI while allegedly accepting a bribe from a person for issuing a no-objection certificate.

The accused, Shamsher Singh, filed an application for grant of default bail under Section 167(2) of the CrPC.

Special Public Prosecutor PK Dogra told the court that a challan was already submitted in this case on July 15, 2022.

After hearing the arguments, the court said since the challan had been filed within the required period of 60 days, the application had no merit. Hence, it is accordingly dismissed.
