Chandigarh, September 14
After more than four months, the fruit and vegetable market was today shifted back to its original location in Sector 26. From tomorrow, commission agents and vendors will function from the original mandi premises.
To contain the spread of Covid-19, the UT Administration had temporarily shifted the vegetable and fruit market, which was located close to Bapu Dham Colony, to the Sector 17 ISBT in the second week of May.
Meanwhile, the CTU authorities today got the bus stand cleaned to initially start the service to eight destinations each in Punjab and Haryana.
Terming it a futile exercise, a commission agent said the mandi was shifted to the Sector 17 bus stand to break the chain of virus transmission. Even after four months, the UT was unable to contain the virus and now, they had been ordered to shift back to Sector 26, the agent added.
