4 PCS officers get addl charges
Chandigarh: With HCS officer Richa proceeding on leave from May 31 to August 3, the charges held by her have been distributed among four PCS officers. Rupinderjit Singh Brar has been assigned the charge of Additional Director, Higher Education, Amandeep Singh Bhatti the charge of Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Sorabh Kumar Arora Joint Secretary, Urban Planning and Metro and Joint Secretary, Housing. Paviter Singh has been given the charge of Director and Joint Secretary of Food and Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology. However, during his leave from June 7 to 17, the charges held by him will be looked after by Nitish Singla.
Cong flays MC proposal
Chandigarh: Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee president HS Lucky has condemned the MC proposal to increase the booking rates of community centres across the city, which is expected to be presented in the upcoming meeting. Lucky called this decision anti-people and insensitive, stating that it would directly impact poor and middle-class families, which rely on these affordable venues for their social and religious events. He said raising the rates goes against the very spirit with which these were created.
Meeting on smart parking
Chandigarh: City Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla reviewed a key consultation meeting held today to discuss the issue of smart parking under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The meeting focussed on finalising the framework for the upcoming request for proposal (RFP) for the project. During the meeting, the Mayor emphasised the importance of adopting innovative and efficient technologies to address Chandigarh’s growing parking needs. She called for a transparent approach to ensure a sustainable urban mobility solution for the city. Key suggestions discussed included implementing AI-based and RFID-enabled systems, incorporating proof of concept, valet parking services, LED display boards for real-time availability.
