Panchkula, February 24

The Panchkula traffic police have taken a initiative to encourage people to obey the traffic rules.

Now, if anyone is caught riding a two-wheeler without a helmet, he/she will be given a second chance to either buy a new helmet or bring it from home, if possible, in 10 minutes to avoid a challan or penalty.

Sukhdev Singh, SHO Traffic Inspector, said they were going an extra mile to create awareness on road safety. Apart from this, nakas were set up and police presence was ensured across the city to take stern action against those who violate the traffic rules, he said. Apart from this, motorists were kept under surveillance through a network of CCTV cameras installed at various spots to deal with offenders.

In the past too, the Panchkula traffic police had conducted similar drives to sensitise motorists to traffic rules and road safety. — TNS
