A Punjab Roadways bus driver died after being hit by a pick-up driver with an iron pipe in an incident of road rage at Kurali bus stand this afternoon.
The victim, Jagjeet Singh (41), from Amritsar district, was hit on the chest. As Passers-by intervened, the bus driver collapsed and fainted. He was rushed to a Kurali hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The body was shifted to the Phase-6 Civil Hospital in the evening.
The assailant, Sukhdeep Singh (35) of Padiala village in Kurali, claimed that there were arguments between the two drivers on the way and Jagjeet had abused him earlier. When the bus halted near the bus stop, the pick-up driver confronted Jagjeet, after which a fight broke out.
