In a letter to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, the Mayor recommended immediate cancellation of Satinder Singh Sidhu’s nomination.

He also recommended Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar to issue a show-cause notice to the Leader of Opposition Kanwarjeet Singh Rana for his misconduct during a meeting of the House on November 23.

In a letter to the Commissioner, the Mayor said, “Rana suddenly came to the well of the Assembly hall and took the microphone of the MC Secretary, his name plate and snatched his agenda copy. This is serious misconduct and indecent behaviour towards the government officer. He disrupted the proceedings of the House and his conduct was unacceptable and unbecoming of a councillor. It created a hostile and intimidating environment, making it difficult for others to participate and engage in constructive discussion. I hereby recommend that a show-cause notice be issued to Rana for his misconduct and he shall be asked to submit a reply within seven days, failing which he may be suspended from the next meeting of the General House, as per rule.”

"We have demanded voting on an agenda related to vendors, as it was illegally rejected. When voting was not allowed, we protested against the decision to reject it. We will even challenge the decision," said Leader of Opposition Kanwarjeet Singh Rana who is a BJP councillor.

In a letter to the Governor, the Mayor said, “Sidhu is a nominated councillor who is nominated by the Administrator for giving his expert advice in favour of the MC. As per rule, a nominated councillor cannot take part in a protest of the opposition party during the House meeting. Sidhu has to give his expert advice from his special knowledge and experience for which he has been appointed. But on Saturday, Sidhu supported Rana, as he came to the well of the House and raised slogans and participated in the protest. Sidhu’s behaviour is a blatant violation of the meeting procedure. It is strongly recommended that as per his misconduct and indecent behaviour towards MC secretary, Sidhu’s nomination should be cancelled immediately.”
