As the last week of campaigning is approaching, candidates have their hands full with election meetings and programmes. Chander Mohan and Gian Chand Gupta have been visiting over 12 to 15 places a day, besides meeting party workers.

A typical day for candidates begins with party meetings slated for early mornings between 8 am and 10 am. Congress candidate Chander Mohan began his day with a meeting at Barwala, another at Dev Colony there and the third one while listening to grievances of the Arhtiya Association members. Later, he attended a meeting in Sector 25, followed by another one with the Panchkula Bar Association wherein he was joined by dozens of advocates who requested him to find a solution for parking pangs and other issues.

Talking to advocates, Chander Mohan said he was well aware of their problems and would raise their issues strongly at the right platform.

Chander Mohan also attended public meetings at Sectors 5, 16, 6, Budhanpur, Rajiv Colony, Saketri and Sector 18 and 17. His son went door-to-door while campaigning in Sector 9, Khatauli and Sector 31.

Similarly, BJP’s Gian Chand Gupta, who is trying to score a hat-trick and defeat Congress’s Chander Mohan for the second consecutive time, began his day at 7 am with a tea programme at Sector 27, followed by another one at Sector 26 and public meetings at Sectors 28, 23 and 16.

By the time of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NaMo application programme at 12 pm, Gupta had already attended meetings at six places. Later, he visited other areas, including Sectors 9, 26, 2, Jaloli village and Chandimandir, in the evening. Gupta’s associates said his meetings usually continued till 9 pm and at times till 10 pm.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Prem Gupta attends a few — five to seven — meetings a day. On Thursday, he visited Sector 8 street vendor’s market, Sector 15 market, Mankan and Chaunki villages and Sector 11 market.
