Candidates of political parties joined by other party leaders and their family members have been organising door-to-door programmes as they meet people and assure residents that they would work for the development of the district.

Garg seeks support

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Prem Garg today sought the support of city residents during his door-to-door campaign in Sectors 7 and 8. He met local traders of the Sector 7 market area at 11 a.m. and discussed their issues. He visited Manka, Jaswantgarh, and Sultanpur village areas. He said residents alleged that they do not see their MLAs once they are elected. Garg said he assured them he would remain connected to them even. Garg was seen at the ISKCON temple today.

Chander Mohan son joins him

Congress candidate Chander Mohan today reached Barwala and inaugurated the election office. He said the roads in Barwala were broken and the lanes in the village were not paved. He said, “The mud in the lanes of the village is exposing the claims of development of the BJP. Farmers do not get electricity for irrigation in the fields, urea mines are not available on time.”

He reached Sector 19 and assured people that he would solve their problems as soon as possible. He said all the stray cattle in the city would be taken to cow shelters once Congress was elected.

Chander Mohan’s son also participated in the election campaign and met people at Sectors 5, 6 and 7. Party leaders said the Assembly Speaker, Gyan Chand Gupta’s cousin, and BJP leader Shiv Kumar Gupta, along with his colleagues, joined the Congress party today.

BJP mass contact campaign

The Bharatiya Janata Party would run a mass contact campaign that begins on Sunday. Party leaders said all leaders, office-bearers, and workers would get in touch with the voters of their respective booths and would discuss welfare schemes of the state government in the Panchkula assembly segment. The programme, let by Speaker Gian Chand Gupta would begin from Yavanika Garden in Sector 5. Gupta today said he was confident the party would register a clean win in the elections.

The party district president, Deepak Sharma, said Gupta would lead the campaign in rural areas and he would lead the campaign in urban areas. “Mahasampark Abhiyan will be run on a large scale in both the assemblies of the district,” he said.
