The CBI Court has ordered to frame charges against Vijay Sehra, Superintendent, Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), who was arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs20,000 from a complainant.
The CBI had registered a case against Sehra, Superintendent, CGST, Sector 17, Chandigarh, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on the basis of a complaint of Subhash Chand Dadhwal.
Dadhwal alleged that the accused, Vijay Sehra, told him to pay bribe to settle his tax issue. As the complainant did not want to pay the bribe, he made a written complaint to the CBI.
The CBI team laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs20,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses.
