The accused in the appeals filed through advocate Pawan Kumar Dogra challenged the order pronounced on December 23, 2024, by the court of Special Judicial Magistrate, CBI.

The case was registered on the allegations that the accused were sending a large number of workers to Saudi Arabia for jobs on the basis of forged documents.

A joint surprise check was conducted at the office of Protector of Emigrants, Kendriya Sadan, Sector 9, Chandigarh, by the CBI on November 12, 2014, and files pertaining to the case were taken into possession. After scrutiny, it was revealed that the job category of 82 applicants was different from that mentioned in the applications.

The CBI claimed that the accused were wrongly showing them in the skilled category to avoid the attestation of documents, thereby causing loss to government exchequer for the period from July 2013 to January 2014.

After hearing the arguments the court said that since disposal of the appeal was likely to take time, therefore, during the pendency of the instant appeal the operation of the order of the sentence was suspended on the condition that the appellant furnished bail bonds for Rs 50,000 with one surety.
