On a complaint of Devender Singh Sandhu, the CBI had registered a case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against ASI Sher Singh on March 11. Sandhu had alleged that Sher Singh, who was posted at the ISBT Sector 43 police post, had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh for favouring him in a complaint lodged against him. Since, the complainant was not ready to pay the bribe, he approached the CBI.

After registration an FIR, a trap was laid to nab the cop. The accused and a private person, Rinku, were apprehended by the CBI while demanding and accepting undue advantage of Rs 54,400 from the complainant.
