CBSE reviews Chandigarh’s PISA preparedness

The CBSE today reviewed the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which will be held in 2020, preparedness with officials of the UT Administration.

An online meeting in this regard was held among Manoj Ahuja, Chairperson, CBSE, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics), and Dr Biswajit Saha, Director (Training and Skill Education). In Chandigarh, the meeting was chaired by UT Adviser Manoj Parida, along with Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Education, Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, and SS Dahiya, Director, SCERT.

A brief presentation was made by Director (Academics), CBSE, regarding the status of PISA preparedness of the UT. He shared the details of board results, assessment of CCT tests and a sample survey of schools of the city. He further informed that teacher energised textbooks (TET) and PISA primer for parents would soon be shared with the UT. Due to the pandemic, PISA examination has been pushed further and tentative dates for the field and main trials of PISA were also discussed.

The Chairperson raised the issue of low participation of students of government schools in online assessment. He expressed concern about availability of smartphones and Internet with students belonging to the EWS families.

The Adviser requested the Chairperson to supply the printed booklets (PISA primer) for parents so that these can be delivered at their houses.
