Chandigarh: '0001' goes for Rs 12.21 lakh

Chandigarh, June 27

The vanity number ‘0001’ of new series CH01CK was auctioned for a whopping Rs 12.21 lakh today.

A total of 436 registration numbers were auctioned by the Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA). The authority earned Rs 1,56,82,000 from the auction.

The number ‘0007’ went for Rs 5.71 lakh, ‘0009’ for Rs 5.64 lakh, ‘0008’ for Rs 3.70 lakh, ‘0005’ for Rs 3.51 lakh, ‘0013’ for Rs 3.51 lakh, ‘9999’ for Rs 3.31 lakh, ‘0002’ for Rs 3.25 lakh and ‘0055’ for Rs 3.12 lakh.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
