Chandigarh administration to reintroduce odd-even system in congested markets of city

Chandigarh, August 7
Chandigarh Administration announced on Friday that it was reintroducing the odd-even system in eleven of the city’s most congested markets for the next six days.
UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore ordered the administration to implement the odd-even system in congested markets on the basis of the recommendations received from the Committee headed by Finance Secretary to contain spread of infection.
The system will be reintroduced Krishna Market, Sector 41; Market area near old PNB Bank/Bihari Garment, Burail Chowk; Shastri Market, Sector 22; Patel Market, Sector 15; Sector 8 Internal Market; Azad Market, Sector 20; Palace Market, Sector 20; Booth Market, Sector 21; Palika Bazar, Sector 19; Sadar Market, Sector 19; and Janta Market, Sector 27, the UT administration said.
The order also said that Sector 43’s Scooter Repair Market will remain closed on Sundays. Additionally, the following shops of Sector 22’s Mobile Marketwill remain closed for next six days:
SCO 1010-11- Radha Market
SCO 1030-31- Attari Market
SCO 1004- Sweety Market
SCO 1003-04
The decisions will be reviewed every week. The Sub-Divisional Magistrates will coordinate with Markets Associations for smooth functioning and strict enforcement of the above orders, the new order said.
The administration has also decided to keep Sukhna lane closed on weekends.
