Chandigarh Admn mulls ‘fitness day’ on third Saturday of every month
The UT Administration is likely to observe ‘fitness day’ on third Saturday of every month to promote yoga, walkathon, cycling, swimming and other sports among residents.
Top officials of the UT Administration took part in an event at Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23, here today. They also discussed the “fitness day” proposal.
“It will be a great initiative. The administration may appoint their fitness experts from colleges to observe a fitness day for the city residents in sectors. Various NGOs can also be roped in for the event. It will be not a grand event, but the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) may be asked to organise the activities at their own level,” said an official. The college, under the aegis of the Directorate of Higher Education and the AYUSH Department, organised Surya Namaskar Event 2025 as a part of “Sankalp Poorti Samaroh”.
