The UT Education Department will start its annual sports calendar by organising interschool tournaments from July 25. In the first phase of the calendar, the department will organise championships of badminton (U-14), baseball (U-14), basketball (U-14), chess (U-14), cricket (boys’ U-14), football (U-14), kabaddi (U-14), karate (U-14, U-17, U-19), softball (U-14) and table tennis (U-14). The last day to submit entries will be July 20 and the fixtures will be announced on July 23.
In the second phase starting from August 21, the department will host archery (U-14,U-17,U-19), badminton (U-17,U-19), basketball (U-17,U-19), boxing (Boys’ U-14, U-17 and boys and girls’ U-19), chess (U-17, U-19), cricket (U-17), fencing (U-14, U-17, U-19), football (U-17), handball (U-14, U-17, U-19), judo (U-14, U-17, U-19), kabaddi (U-17, U-19), kho-kho (U-14, U-17, U-19), shooting (U-14, U-17, U-19), skating (U-11, U-14, U-17, U-19), squash (U-14, U-17, U-19), table tennis (U-17,U-19), tennis (U-17), taekwondo (U-14, U-17, U-19), volleyball (U-19), wrestling (freestyle) (U-14, U-17, U-19), wrestling Greco Roman (boys’ U-17 and U-19), yogasna (U-14, U-17, U-19) and baseball (U-17, U-19). The matches will be scheduled through fixtures on August 14.
Followed by a month’s break, the third phase will started from October 4. The interschool events for cricket (U-19), cycling (U-14, U-17, U-19), football (U-19), gymnastics (U-14, U-17, U-19), hockey (U-14, U-17, U-19), netball (U-14,U-17,U-19), softball (U-17,U-19), swimming (U-14,U-17,U-19), tennis (U-14, U-19), volleyball (U-14, U-17), weightlifting (U-17, U-19) and wushu (U-17, U-19) will be organised. The tournament fixture will be announced on September 30. The department will organise the last championship, annual athletics meet, from November 18 to 22.
As per the National School Games rules, there will no capping on class of the student and a player can participate in any discipline in the same age group for three years only.
