The Chandigarh Police today suspended cybercrime cell ASI Gurdev Singh in the death of Moulik Verma, a Class XI student of Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 21.

Moulik was found hanging from the ceiling fan of the room of his house in Zirakpur on Saturday. He was creamted in Zirakpur today. The mother of the deceased had demanded a probe against the school management and police officials involved in the case.

On Monday, the cybercrime cell registered an FIR in connection with a fake social media account of a government school. The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) and Punjab State & Chandigarh Human Rights Commission has also sought a report from UT police in the minor’s death.
