Chandigarh, January 24
After suffering a 2-0 loss to Punjab in their campaign opener, Hockey Chandigarh bowed to Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu in their Pool A match on the second day of the 10th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship (A Division) at Jhansi today. The city side went down 2-5.
Hassan M Basha (2nd), Selvaraj Kanagaraj (9th, 56th), Mareeswaran Sakthivel (47th, 59th) scored for Tamil Nadu, while Jasdeep Singh (5th) and Sanjay (21st) managed a goal each for Chandigarh.
Earlier, Hockey Punjab played out a goalless draw against hosts Uttar Pradesh.
In Pool B, Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) maintained their winning streak as they registered a comfortable 3-1 win over Comptroller & Auditor General of India.
Striker Armaan Qureshi (3rd, 19th) scored a brace for the PSPB, while Devinder Walmiki (18th) struck once for the side. Manish Yadav (35th) was the lone scorer for Comptroller & Auditor General.
In the last match of the day, Central Secretariat beat Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 4-1.
Dharambir Yadav (27th), Iktidar Ishrat (46th, 51st) and Mohammad Shariq (60th) scored for Central Secretariat, while Saroj Ekka scored the consolation goal for the CRPF.
