Chandigarh boys blank Andhra Pradesh 6-0 in hockey

Paramvir Singh netted two goals as Hockey Chandigarh defeated Hockey Andhra Pradesh 6-0, during the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 (men’s U-18) at Bhubaneswar.

Paramvir Singh struck in 13th and 23rd minute of the game, while Gurpreet Singh (6th), Rishav (16th), Kawal Singh (49th) and Surinder Singh (51st) netted a goal each to see their team log a comfortable victory.

In another tie, Hockey Haryana played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Hockey Punjab. Both teams went toe to toe against each other with none of them able to break the deadlock in the first quarter. Amandeep (22nd) and captain Toshant (24th) scored a goal each in the second quarter to give Hockey Haryana the lead. Hockey Punjab, however, came back strongly in the second half as Dilraj Singh (38th and 55th) netted a brace.

Meanwhile,Uttar Pradesh Hockey registered a 6-1 win against Manipur Hockey in Pool A. Manoj Yadav, who struck in the 6th, 26th, 45th and 47th minute, was on the top of his game, scoring four goals in the match. Ajeet Yadav (53rd and 59th) struck a brace to contribute to Uttar Pradesh Hockey’s victory. Silheiba Lisham (56th) scored the only goal for Manipur Hockey.

In the last match of the day, Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Bihar by a big margin of 8-0.
