Chandigarh: Case registered in Sector 8 electrocution incident

Chandigarh, July 24

Almost a week after a youth got electrocuted in Sector 8, the Chandigarh Police have registered a case of causing death by negligence. The case has been registered under Section 106 of the BNS at the Sector 3 police station on the complaint of Sub-Inspector (SI) Kulwant Singh.

Victim Mayank (17) had got electrocuted on July 17. He had left a gym in Sector 8 and was crossing the railings next to the transformer when he came in contact with it and got electrocuted.

Victim was rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where he was declared brought dead. He was son of the Deputy Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED) here.

The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) had also taken suo motu cognisance of the matter and had called for a report from the Superintending Engineer, Electricity, Chandigarh, and UT SSP.
