Chandigarh college student on way to drop friend in Kangra dies in road accident near Nangal
A 21-year-old from the Dugri area of Ludhiana lost his life in a road accident near Brahmpur village on the Anandpur Sahib–Nangal National Highway (NH-503) on Friday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as Devansh Dhonsi, was a student of Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology (SVIET), Chandigarh.
According to police, Devansh was riding a motorcycle and was accompanied by a female co-passenger, who is a student of the same college. The two were reportedly on their way to Jawali area of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, where Devansh was dropping her off.
The accident occurred as Devansh reportedly failed to negotiate a pothole on the highway, causing the motorcycle to skid. A truck tanker coming from the opposite direction ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot. The girl sustained injuries in the incident and was rushed to the Nangal Civil Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Local police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.
