The city Congress today held a massive protest against Ravneet Singh Bittu, a minister in the Narendra Modi government, and an MLA from Maharashtra for their ‘objectionable utterances’ against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

Led by HS Lucky, president, Chandigarh Pradesh Congress, party activists gathered in front of the Congress Bhawan and moved towards Kamalam, the BJP office in Sector 33 here. The protesters were carrying placards and pictures of Bittu with the cross sign on them.

As soon as the protesters moved ahead raising slogans, they were stopped by the Chandigarh Police, which led to a minor scuffle between them.

Addressing the protesters, Lucky alleged that the remarks were scripted by the top leadership of the BJP and Bittu just read the prepared script to please his new bosses. He accused Bittu of spreading hatred in the country and demanded an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS registered against him.

Lucky claimed Bittu should not forget that whatever he was today, it was only because of the Congress and his grandfather former Chief Minister Beant Singh.

“Now, after rejecting the ideology of his grandfather, Bittu has himself joined communal forces,” he alleged further.
