Chandigarh, March 4

Chandigarh beat Maharashtra by 77 runs to register their second successive win in the ongoing State Bank of India Inter Circle Cricket Tournament at the Sector 16 stadium here today.

Electing to bat, the hosts made 167/4 in 20 overs. Ravi Inder hammered a 53-ball 74, while Siddarth Kaul added a quick-fire 34 to the total. Gautam Yadav and C Prabhau claimed one wicket each for the visitors.

In reply, Maharashtra batsmen were bowled out for 90 runs. Varun Khanna (3/15) and Kaul (3/18) took three wickets apiece for Chandigarh. Sandeep (17) was the top scorer for Maharashtra.

Chandigarh had beat Patna in their campaign opener yesterday.

Ratnakar, Sharuq impress

In another match, Amaravati defeated Chennai by seven wickets.

Batting first, Chennai made 149/4 in 20 overs. KM Harish (41) and K Shiva Kumar (41) made useful contributions to Chennai total. Kalyan Deepak and Y Shalem took one wicket each for Amaravati.

Needing to score 7.5 runs per over for victory, Amaravati, powered by G Ratnakar (51) and S Sharuq Ahmed (49), reached home in 18.1 overs with seven wickets to spare.

Rajesh Kumar took all the three wickets to fall in Amaravati innings.

Bhopal, Hyderabad win

In the third match of the day, Bhopal beat Patna by nine wickets.

Batting first, Patna were bowled out for 77 runs as Jatin Sahay (3/5) and DS Bundela (2/7) shared five wickets between them. Tarun Kumar (32) did the bulk of scoring for Patna.

In reply, Bhopal reached home with nine wickets in hand. Jatin Saxena made 33, while Harsh Gawali contributed 28 runs to the chase.

Santosh Kumar claimed the only wicket to fall in the Bhopal innings.

Hyderabad, meanwhile, registered a 35-run win over Kerala.

Batting first, Hyderabad led by T Suman (43) and Akash Bhandari (40) scored 162/6 in 20 overs.

Shahid CP and Abhishek Mohan claimed two wickets each for Kerala.

Kerala, in reply, could only manage 127/6 in the allotted overs. Rakesh RJ hit a brisk 49, while Vinod Kumar chipped in with 35 runs. Alfred claimed two wickets and Suman bagged one wicket for Hyderabad.

Majid ton powers Lucknow

Majid Khalil, meanwhile, hit an unbeaten ton to guide Lucknow to a five-wicket win over Ahmedabad.

Chasing 164 runs for victory, Lucknow, rode on Khalil’s 60-ball 100, to reach home with four balls to spare.

Rakesh Dhruv and Birju Pathak took one wicket each for Ahmedabad.

Earlier, Ahmedabad made 163 runs in 20 overs. Dhruv (39) and Kanayia Pathak (34) made useful contributions to Ahmedabad innings. Gyanendra Pandey with three wickets was the most successful bowler for Lucknow. Sudhir Bharti took two wickets.

In the remaining matches of the day, Jaipur defeated Kolkata by 56 runs, while Guwahati recorded a nine-wicket win over Bhubaneswar. Bengaluru defeated Delhi by eight wickets.
