Chandigarh: A cyclist was killed, while his wife was injured after they were hit by a truck. According to the police, complainant Dinesh reported that the bicycle was being ridden by his father Shivraj while his mother Kusuma Devi was riding pillion when it was hit by a truck near the railway station light point on June 27. The couple received injuries following which they were hospitalised. Later, the complainant’s father succumbed to the injuries. Truck driver Kashmir Singh was arrested and later released on bail. Youth arrested for stabbing

Chandigarh:The UT police have arrested a youth for allegedly stabbing a Panchkula resident. Complainant Mahadev Gupta, a resident of Indira Colony, Sector 17, alleged that Rahul, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, stabbed him on the neck with a knife. He sustained injuries and was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula. The police have registered a case at the Mauli Jagran police station. TNS

Atulaya directors booked for fraud

Chandigarh: The UT police have registered a cheating case against Pankaj Kumar Kansil and Anuj Gupta, both directors of Atulaya Healthcare Pvt Ltd. According to the police, complainant Vinod Kumar Singla, a resident of Sector 11, reported that he had started a business of providing medical clinical services in pursuance of a medical clinical services agreement, dated November 4, 2015, with Atulaya on the premises owned by him. It is alleged that the suspects, who are also directors of another company in the name of M/s Steadfast Healthcare Pvt Ltd, forged a rent agreement, dated April 23, 2019, in order to establish their independent possession. The police have registered a case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC at the Sector 11 police station. TNS

Illegal mining: ASI suspended

Panchkula: The local police have suspended ASI Narinder Kumar, in-charge of the Amravati police post, in an illegal mining case after a video went viral allegedly showing his involvement in the activity. DCP Surinder Pal Singh said he had been transferred to the Police Lines. TNS

UT gets 2 more HCS officers

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government on Tuesday placed the services of two Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officers at the disposal of the Chandigarh Administration with immediate effect. The UT Administration recently finalised the names of HCS officers Sumeet Sihag and Isha Kamboj from a panel of seven names sent by the Haryana Government to the Chandigarh Administration for deputation in the city. Sumeet Sihag is at present posted as Estate Officer, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), Karnal, and Isha Kamboj as Secretary, Haryana Staff Selection Commission, Panchkula.
