Chandigarh, March 3

The women’s team of Regional Sports Board (RSB) Indore recorded a 2-0 win over Telangana on the opening day of the All-India Civil Services Badminton Tournament at the Sector 42 Sports Complex. Chhattisgarh defeated Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh ousted Chandigarh and Central Secretariat Assam defeated Assam with identical score of 2-0.

In the men’s team event, Chhattisgarh easily defeated Himachal Pradesh 3-0. Uttarakhand also moved ahead by defeating Telangana 3-0. RSB Chennai too blanked NCT Delhi 3-0.

In other one-sided matches, RSB Jharkhand defeated RSB Kochi, Gujarat outplayed Bihar, RSB Dehradun defeated Maharashtra, RSB Patna overpowered Puducherry and RSB Shimla ousted RSB Kanpur with identical score of 3-0.

As many as 40 teams in the men’s category and 30 in the women’s category are participating in the tournament, which is being played under men and women (teams, singles, doubles, mixed doubles) categories. Meanwhile, in the veteran category, women will compete in 40+ and 55+ categories, whereas men will play in 45+ and 55+ age groups.
