Local fencers bagged a rich haul of medals in the 68th National School Games in Patna. The city team, represented by Pranshi Arora and Suhani of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, Mahira Batheja of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, and Shiviya Arora of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, claimed gold medal in the girls’ foil event.

The boys’ epee team of Atharv Monga, Mohammed Shahbaz, Inderdeep Singh, and Karan Kumar, all from Sector 10 government school, bagged silver medal. The girls’ epee team of Pranshi Arora with teammates Sakshi Sharma (GMSSS-10 A), Aradhya (Chitkara International School, Sector 25) and Aaradhya Jolly (Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27), bagged the third position.

In the individual events, Pranshi clinched gold medal in the girls’ individual foil event, while Mahira Batheja of Carmel Convent School bagged silver. Prachi also won silver medal in the girls’ sabre event. Kamal Joshi of the Sector 10 government school bagged the third position.

The fencers have been trained by coach, Charanjeet Kaur. Kamalpreet Kaur (Carmel Convent), Nirmal (Government Model High School, Mani Majra) and Sukhwinder Singh (Chitkara International) accompanied the team to the national event.
