Chandigarh, September 25
The Central Government today sanctioned a fleet of 80 electric buses for the city under the Phase II of the FAME India scheme.
This will give a major boost to the plan of the UT Administration to replace its entire fleet of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) with electric buses.
The CTU has 514 buses — 361 buses run on local or suburban routes and 153 buses run on inter-state routes.
In a tweet, UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Prakash Javadekar for sanctioning a fleet of 80 electric buses.
