City judokas shone in the Junior National Judo Championship held at Ranchi from December 16 to 20.

The budding judokas bagged three silver medals and three judokas finished at the fifth place. One budding player bagged the seventh spot. The silver medallist are Kamini Yadav (44 kg), Mehak Singh (52 kg), and Himanshu (55 kg). Navroop (48 kg), Prince (60 kg) and Nitin Kumar (66 kg) bagged the fifth place. Saniya Rai (63 kg) finished seventh.

All the players are trained at Sports Complex, Sector 34-C, Chandigarh, by coach Vivek Thakur. Thakur said, “All the judokas performed above expectations. We are hoping for gold medals in the upcoming championship.” The medal winners of Chandigarh were honoured by Director Sports Sorabh Kumar Arora .
