Chandigarh Kings defeated Capital Strikers by eight runs to win the Chandigarh Premier League T20 Trophy at the Sector 16 cricket stadium today.
Batting first, Kings posted 162 runs before getting all-out in 19.4 overs. Aarush Bhandari’s quickfire 36 off 20 balls helped the side to start off well. Sanyam Saini (46 off 31 balls) and Kunal Mahajan (31 off 22 balls) were other main scorers for the side. Jaskirat Singh Mehra remained the pick of the bowlers, as he claimed 4/22, while Vivek Vashisht and Sahil Kumar picked two wickets each. In reply, Strikers began well as Arjun Azad posted 44 off 22 balls. However, Bhambri claimed 4/26 including the wicket of Nipun Sharda (42 off 35) to restrict the side to 154. Mehara also contributed 25 runs off 13 deliveries. Rohit Dhanda (3/27) was the other notable wicket-taker for the side.
Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Sandhu and UT Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma awarded the winners in the presence of UT Cricket Association president Sanjay Tandon, Sports Secretary Prerna Puri and Sports Director Sourabh Kumar Arora.
