Hockey Chandigarh trounced Hockey Rajasthan (14-0) in the 11th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship in Pune today.
Mohit (6th, 42nd, 55th) and Amandeep (23rd, 25th, 57th) scored a hat-trick each, while braces from Angad Bir Singh (14th, 28th), Harpreet Singh (14th, 39th), Rajveer Singh (12th), Harmanpreet Singh (21st), Yograj Singh (35th) and Jaspreet Singh (37th) guided Chandigarh to a comfortable victory.
Hockey Punjab, led by Olympic bronze medallist Rupinder Pal Singh, beat Hockey Uttarakhand (11-0) to kick off the proceedings. Goals for Hockey Punjab were scored by Lovepreet Jainth (4th, 46th, 56th, 58th), Parampreet Singh (6th), Surdarshan Singh (7th, 18th), Vishal Yadav (21st), Gurshahzad Singh Pirzada (30th), Gautam Kumar (35th) and a penalty stroke by Rupinder Pal Singh (50th).
Hockey Karnataka didn’t take long to score the opener against Hockey Jammu & Kashmir. Captain Mohd Raheel scored the goal in the second minute of the game. From there, Hockey Karnataka cruised on for a 14-0 win, with braces scored by Mohammed Raheel (2nd, 14th), Somanna BP (4th, 47th), Punith R (20th, 55th), Bharath KR (23rd, 30th), S Deekshith P (27th), Chiranth Somanna ND (42nd) and Likhith BM (43rd, 60th), Kumar Yathish B (52nd) and Shamanth CS (60th).
Le Puducherry Hockey trounced Hockey Arunachal (14-0). Puducherry’s victory came via well-taken goals by Arun T Kumar (1st, 3rd, 25th, 35th), Veerathamizhan V (10th, 43rd, 56th, 58th) and R Ranjith (20th, 22nd , 42th), A Tamilarasan (12th), Pooviyarasan (23rd) and Sellamuthu N (34th).
Manipur Hockey beat Tripura Hockey (21-0) to kick start their tournament. Manipur’s victory was built on goals by Laishram Mantosh Meitei (2nd, 9th, 13rd, 17th), Bhakar Ningombam (45th, 47th, 48th, 53rd) and Dinachandra Singh Moirangthem (35th, 53rd, 56th, 59th). Other goals were scored by Captain Abung Ningombam Singh (4th, 33rd) and Keisham Rohit Meitei (26th, 28th), Ibungo Konjengbam Singh (10st), Debeshor Konjengbam Singh (37th), Dayananda Chanamthabam Singh (41st), Dollar Kshetrimayum (51st) and Romeshkumar Heisnam Singh (60th).
Hockey Andaman and Nicobar forfeit their Pool D game against Hockey Andhra Pradesh who was awarded a 5-0 win by default.
